God made us to love and worship Him. Our greatest joy as human beings is to be found in the God who made us, loves us, provides salvation from sin through Jesus Christ, gives us future hope in the return of Jesus and eternal life with Him. When we worship God, we remember and praise who He is and what He has done. We are reoriented in a Godward direction. We commit anew to live in obedience, holiness, and submission to our God who loves us.
At OLBC, we worship through the preaching of God's Word and our response to it, by praying together, by celebrating Baptism and the Lord's Supper together, and by raising our voices in song together. The Worship Ministry at OLBC seeks to facilitate our worship as we gather together through various means, with an emphasis on music. We strive to do that on a weekly basis in our worship services in the songs that we sing. We want to sing songs that are biblically faithful and reflect what we believe as a church. We want to sing songs that cause us to focus our attention on God and help us respond to Him. We want to sing songs that make much of the person and work of Jesus Christ. We want to do all those things in a way that encourages active participation from our church community of diverse ages and backgrounds. We seek to be facilitators, not performers. We seek to be worshipers before we are musicians.
